Best Movie or TV Lawyers of All Time (Part Two)

Legal dramas have always been a staple of television and cinema, with characters who captivate us with quick wit, sharp intelligence, and remarkable legal skills. Part one of our series, discussed some of the best movie and TV lawyers ever. In this second part, we will explore three more unforgettable characters who left their mark on the world of law and entertainment.

Iconic Lawyers and Their Lasting Impact

First up is Alicia Florrick from “The Good Wife” (2009-2016), played by Julianna Margulies. Alicia is a former stay-at-home mom who returns to the workforce as a lawyer after her husband is jailed for corruption. Throughout the series, Alicia proves herself to be a brilliant attorney, navigating the cutthroat world of Chicago politics with grace and determination. But what makes Alicia truly stand out is her character development. She is a legal powerhouse and a complex human being who grapples with personal and ethical dilemmas. Her journey from a loyal wife to a fierce advocate for herself and her clients captures the strength and tenacity of women in the legal profession.

Next is Jackie Chiles from “Seinfeld”
(1992-1998), played by Phil Morris. Jackie is different from your typical lawyer. He is an animated, fast-talking attorney who is always ready to take on any case that comes his way. He represents some of the quirkiest clients in the Seinfeld universe, including Kramer, who sues a coffee shop for not providing enough hot coffee. What makes Jackie memorable is his outrageous behavior and his tendency to use legal jargon in bizarre and unexpected ways. He is a parody of a stereotypical lawyer. Yet, his presence adds a layer of humor and absurdity to the show. His catchphrase, “It’s outrageous, egregious, preposterous!” has become iconic and is still referenced in pop culture today.

Last but not least is Rudy Baylor from “The Rainmaker” (1997), played by Matt Damon. Rudy is a young, idealistic lawyer who takes on a case against a corrupt insurance company. He is not a seasoned attorney and has never won a case before. Still, he is passionate about fighting for justice and helping his clients. Throughout the film, Rudy faces many obstacles but never gives up on pursuing the truth. Rudy’s determination and empathy for his clients make him a compelling character. His journey from a struggling law student to a confident lawyer is inspiring and uplifting. His victory against the insurance company is a triumph of justice over greed.
